First, a quick correction about the release of A-Babies Vs X-Babies #1 by Skottie Young and Gurihiru. Obviously, the book was not out last week like the blog said, but we will have it this Wednesday. It is a fun read, so don't miss out. In AVX Consequences #3 by Kieron Gillen and Steve Kurth, Cyclops continues to be an example of the saying "reap what you sow." As many readers know, Marvel NOW! books have already started to hit the shelves, but that means several books are coming to an end in preparation for their new titles. Titles coming to an end this week are Captain America #19, Deadpool #63, Incredible Hulk #15, and Invincible Iron Man #526. Let's not dwell on endings but, instead, turn to a couple new series. Punisher War Zone #1 is a new, limited series by Greg Rucka and Marco Checchetto that pits The Punisher against The Avengers as he faces the consequences of the events that took place in Rucka's Punisher #15 and #16. If the Punisher isn't gritty enough, you may want to try out the new series Wolverine Max #1 by crime novelist Jason Starr. In this new book from Marvel's Max line, Starr is able to present readers with a no-holds-barred Wolverine experience. Set in a modern-day Tokyo, Wolverine becomes entangled in a terrorist plot that may have been targeting him all along, and readers will get a new look into Logan's past.
DC doesn't have any Death of the Family tie-ins this week, but there are plenty of other great reads available. In Talon #1 by Scott Snyder and Guillem March, Calvin Rose, former assassin of the Court of Owls, has been on the run from his murderous past for years, but after Night of the Owls, he is forced to return to Gotham City to investigate the fallout and hopefully defeat the Court once and for all. Another event currently taking place in the DC Universe is the Rise of the Third Army in the Green Lantern titles. This week's tie-in is Red Lantern #13 by Peter Milligan and Miguel Sepulveda. In this issue, a Red Lantern falls in the battle against the Third Army, and Atrocitus will make a difficult choice to insure the safety of the Red Lantern Corps. Then, DC takes a re-imagined look at Madame Xanadu in National Comics Madame X #1 by Rob Williams and Trevor Hairsine. Once famous for her ability of tarot card reading, Madame X is now the resident psychic for a law firm helping to solve some of its toughest cases. Don't forget to look for several of the other great DC New 52 titles also out this week.
Pendleton Ward's, the acclaimed creator of the Adventure Time cartoon series, newest series Bravest Warriors enters the world of comics with a new ongoing book by Joey Comeau and Mike Holmes. Chris, Wallow, Beth, and Danny are four sixteen-year-olds that happen to be heroes-for-hire. Follow along in their all new adventures that will take them to far away galaxies as they save alien races. And they do this all with the power of their...emotions? Adventure Time #1 sold out fast, so make sure you grab this book quick. Don't forget to also pick up Adventure Time #9.The books discussed above and those listed below are available this Wednesday, October 24 as soon as Dr. No's Comics and Games opens at 11am.
