Batman is celebrating the holidays early this Wednesday, November 2

Christmas comes early to Gotham City this Wednesday! Inspired by Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, the original graphic novel Batman: Noel Deluxe Edition HC, by writer/artist Lee Bermejo, features Batman interpreted for different eras from the 1960s to today. In order to come to terms with his past, present, and future, The Dark Knight will encounter versions of his allies and enemies that anyone familiar with Dickens' classic will recognize. Fans of Bermejo's Joker and Bat-fans of all types will enjoy this wonderful, oversized graphic novel and its exploration of what makes Batman the hero his is today.

Last week, we followed Wolverine and his X-Men to the newly reopened Xavier school, but this week Marvel is taking us back to Utopia in Uncanny X-Men #1. One of the hottest new writers in comics Kieron Gillen and superstar artist Carlos Pacheco bring us Cyclopes and his team of mutants that chose to stay on the island. Not only must the X-Men deal with the fallout of X-Men: Schism, they now have the newly resurrected Mister Sinister to worry about--and he may have had something to do with their problems all along. You will not want to miss the beginning of a book that promises to bring us the biggest and baddest X-Men ever! Also look for these other X-titles on shelves this Wednesday: New Mutants #33, X-23 #16, and X-Men #20!

Dark Shadows returns with a new comic series from Dynamite Entertainment. Writer Stuart Manning and artist Aaron Campbell bring Barnabas Collins, the original reluctant vampire, back as he re-adjusts to life with his vampiric condition. Barnabas must fight his growing bloodlust as he is plagued by nightmares of his lover and nemesis, Angelique. If he loses his fight, everyone in Collinwood will pay the price. Drama, mystery, and vampires! You know you want it.

Fantasy art legend Rebecca Guay and a host of amazing writers--Holly Black, Bill Willingham, Alisa Kwitney, Louise Hawes, and T.D. Mitchell--bring to life Guay's new, original graphic novel, Flight of Angels. Often times depicted as warriors, guardians, messengers, and more, Angels mean many things to different people. This new hardcover explores these legends when a mysterious angel plummets to Earth and is found in the forest by its mystical denizens. As the creatures debate over what to do with him, they each tell a tale of who they think this angel might be. Once they make their verdict, you will be left speechless.

DC's deluxe presentation of Neil Gaiman's Sandman continues this week with the release of Absolute Sandman Vol. 5, collecting The Sandman: Endless Nights, Dream Hunters, and Sandman Midnight Theatre. However, DC isn't stopping their. They are also releasing the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Omnibus HC collecting Alan Moore's original two LoEG stories!

Wolverine, the Force, the future, and more in new comics this Wednesday, October 26

The dust has settled, and the X-Men have chosen their sides. This week, Wolverine and his team are moving back into the Xavier Institute in Wolverine & The X-Men #1, written by Jason Aaron with art by Chris Bachalo. Spinning directly out of X-Men Schism, Wolverine and his crew--including readers' favorites like Beast, Kitty Pryde, Iceman, and more--return to Westchester in attempt to make the X-Men what the once were: a place for young mutants to grow and learn. However, the newly reformed Hellfire Club won't make life easy for the group. This double-sized first issue is the perfect place for new or returning readers to get into the X-Men! Also, Astonishing X-Men #43 and New Mutants #32 will be on shelves when we open this Wednesday.

A long time ago in a comic shop not too far, far away, Dark Horse Comics told the tale of the Emperor's last Imperial Guard in Star Wars Crimson Empire. This Wednesday, Kir Kanos's adventure in Star Wars: Crimson Empire III, Empire Lost #1 by original writer Mike Richardson and artist Paul Gulacy. The New Republic grows in strength, but the galaxy is not yet safe. While going about their business on Coruscant, Han Solo and Princess Leia's family is threatened, and Luke Skywalker's Jedi training will have to be put on hold to deal with situation. Meanwhile, Kir Kanos, now a bounty hunter, prepares to settle an old score--but only if he can survive his newest adversary!

Marvel's arrowed adventurer headlines the new mini-series Avengers Solo #1 by writers Jen Van Meter and Jim McCann with art by Roger Robinson. Hawkeye is pulled into a murderous conspiracy when a dead body of a stranger appears on the Avenger's doorstep. Thanks to The Trapster, Hawkeye is going to have a hard time making it out of this one. In a back up story by Jim McCann and Andrea Divito, Hank Pym and his students from the Avengers Academy set off to solve a mystery too fantastic to believe.

Legion Secret Origin #1 is DC Comic's latest mini-series set in the newly relaunched universe. Writer Paul Levitz and artists Chris Batista and Rich Perot bring you the never before known secrets behind the Legion's origin. Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, and Lighting Lad started the Legion but the story really begins here. What brought about the United Planets? Who tried to kill R.J. Brande? And what has the power to decimate entire planets? Find out the answers to these questions and more! As a bonus, those who buy the first issue will receive an official Legion of Super-Heroes flight ring! (The ability to fly is not guaranteed.) Never fear, new comics are here this Wednesday, October 19

Fear grips the Marvel Universe, and its heroes are defenseless. However, in Fear Itself #7, Tony Stark returns from Svartalfheim with Earth's last hope. This double sized finale is sure to end with a bang. The thrills don't stop there! Fan favorite writers Matt Fraction, Cullen Bunn, and Chris Yost and the amazing art team of Mark Bagley and Paul Pelletier bring you Fear Itself: Fearless #1! Before the dust settles, Valkyrie begins her hunt for the hammers that have spread themselves across the Marvel Universe. Her mission is not without its roadblocks as she comes across opposition the likes of the Red Skull, Captain America, and The Avengers! You will not want to miss this amazing 12-issue series. Before you read that, make sure you also grab Fear Itself: Home Front #7 and Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #6 and read the conclusions to both of these series.


This week, IDW and DC Comics join forces to bring readers Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes #1 by writer Chris Roberson and artist Jeffrey Moy. The 23rd and 31st centuries collide when the Legionnaires find themselves thrown back in time into a Universe unfamiliar to them. The group soon encounters the crew of the USS Enterprise, which leads to one of the most bizarre partnerships in comics. This mini-series will be great for fans of either group!


Neal Adams returns this week with Batman: Odyssey Vol. 2 #1. In the new chapter of Adams' continuing Batman adventure, the Dark Knight is faced with a grim decision: kill or be killed! The new threat is near unstoppable, and if he has any hopes of winning, Batman must go on an odyssey of self-discovery. Anyone looking to make their October a little more frightening need look no further then a couple of this weeks new releases. Steve Niles returns to his original creation with the new ongoing 30 Days of Night #1, with artist Sam Keith along for the ride. A whole new cast of characters is introduced when a woman receives a mysterious letter from Barrow, Alaska that leads her down down a very dark path. Meanwhile, a vampire resurrection beings in Los Angeles that threatens the life of all mankind.

If zombies are more your speed, the new novel The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor HC is on shelves by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga. What drives a man like The Governor to such extremes? The first book in the new trilogy tells the tale of one of comic's greatest villains. Also out this week, The Walking Dead: Survivor's Guide gives a detailed description of every character in the comic series and is a perfect companion piece for any Walking Dead collection.

A new era of X-Men begins this Wednesday, October 12

The X-Men will never be the same after the events of last week's conclusion to X-Men Schism. A family is divided, and everyone must choose who they will side with. In this week's X-Men Regenesis #1. writer Kieron Gillen and artist Billy Tan set the stage for the two new upcoming X-titles, Wolerine & The X-Men #1 and Uncanny X-Men #1. Every X-Man much choose their destiny: Wolverine or Cyclopes. No matter who they choose, things will never be the same. X-fans will also be happy to know that Uncanny X-Force #16, X-Men Legacy #257, and Generation Hope #12 will also be out.

DC fans have a lot of great books to look forward to this week. Fan's of James Robinson's Starman series may remember an antihero by the name of Shade; this week, Robinson and artist Cully Hamner bring the character back in Shade #1, a new 12-issues series. Shade's true origin is finally revealed when an attack on the Starman museum sends him on a journey around the world and through time that will change him forever. Then, My Greatest Adventure #1 brings readers the continuing adventures of Garbage Man and Tanga from the Weird Worlds series, but this time Robotman, a Las Vegas P.I., is along for the ride. This issues features stories from several great writers-Aaron Lopresti, Kevin Maguire, and Matt Kindt- and artists-Lopresti, Maguire, Matt Ryan, and Scott Kolins.

The month starts with a bang this Wednesday, October 5

September was a great month for comic book fans, and October plans to keep the hits coming! First up, we have Howard Chaykin writing and drawing Avengers 1959 #1 for Marvel! Spinning out of New Avengers, 1959 follows the continuing adventures of Nick Fury and his unlikely Avengers-Dominic Fortune, Kraven the Hunter, Namora, Sabertooth, Ulysses Bloodstone, and Ernst Sablinova-as the decade comes to a close. Their secret mission is to hunt down Nazi super villains before they can unleash their terror upon the world, but the Avengers may encounter trouble from some unlikely competition! This promises to be a unique look into the history of The Avengers as this strange group of heroes attempts to save the world.

This week welcomes a slew of DC's New 52 second issues and second printings, but let's take a look at two new miniseries first! Huntress #1, written by Paul Levitz and art by Marcus To and John Dell, finds the former Bird of Prey returning to her home in Italy, but along the way, she manages to get a price on her head so large that it will be hard to ignore. This series will tie in to upcoming events in the Birds of Prey series. Then, you won't want to miss Penguin, Pain and Prejudice #1 by novelist Greg Hurwitz and artist Szymon Kudranski. This new miniseries explores the dark past of one of Batman's greatest villains as Oswald Cobblepot goes from a mother's favorite son to head of Gotham's seedy underworld. Just in time for the premiere of the tv show's second season, The Walking Dead Chronicles offers the only authorized look behind the scenes of season one and offers tons of never-before-seen photos, storyboards, set designs, effect shots, and side-by-side comparisons of the comic and show.

Marvel's big X-Men event comes to a close this week with X-Men Schism #5, leading to the new status-quo for our favorite mutant team.
