Marvel's bringing their A-game (and several other letters of the alphabet) this week with a few new series to start 2015 off right and some classics you know and love. First up, a familiar face returns to prime time in Ant-Man #1 by Nick Spencer and Ramon Rosanas. Scott Lang has been through a lot: prison, death, loss of a daughter, and more. So when the Superior Iron Man offers him an opportunity to don the mantle of Ant-Man once again, Lang can't possibly pass it up. If bug related super heroes are your thing, don't miss Amazing Spider-Man #12 by Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli. As Spider-Verse continues, a new Spider-Character is revealed, and the first major battle between the Spiders and their hunters is waged.
If bugs aren't your thing, maybe Marvel's animal themed heroes are for you! One of its other new series hitting shelves this week is The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #1 by Ryan North and Erica Henderson. Squirrel Girl has taken on the perils of babysitting and fought and won against Wolverine, Deadpool, Dr. Doom, and Thanos. But now she must face a new challenge: college! If you're looking for a fun and funny book that isn't full of gloom and doom, Squirrel Girl is for you!
Check out the rest of the highlights and complete list of this week's releases after the break.
How about a third new title from Marvel? Yes? Well good. Readers also get the all-new Wolverines #1 by Charles Soule and Nick Bradshaw. Wolverine died and was encased in the rarest metal around: Adamantium. Many have died for this powerful metal, and many more will if Mystique has anything to say about. No one is safe, but at least she'll have a fight on her hands going up against the likes of X-23, Sabretooth, Daken, and Lady Deathstrike. But before you read Wolverines, you might want to check out Death of Wolverine: The Weapon X Program #5 (and its previous issues) by Charles Soule, Angel Unzueta, and Iban Soria. As Sharp and the other escapees of the Weapon X program uncover the truth they've been looking for, other Weapon program experiments make an appearance, but they might not be as keen on helping. This story leads in to Wolverines #1.
Of course, Marvel isn't the only company with new books out this week. DC Comics has their weekly comics (Batman Eternal, Earth 2: World's End, New 52: Futures End), Detective Comics #38, Flash Season Zero #4, and more. And Dark Horse is there with the new series Lady Killer #1 by Joelle Jones and Jamie Rich about a a perfect housewife who also happens to be a perfect killer for hire. Image also has several great books out, including Trees #8, ODYC #2, and more! There's something for everyone! Happy new year!
