Dynamite Entertainment goes full steam ahead with Bill Willingham (the creator of Vertigo's classic Fables series) and artist Sergio Fernandez Davila's Legenderry: A Steampunk Adventure #1. This new series takes some of Dynamite's biggest comic heroes and tosses them all in a blender with a side of steampunk. In the first issue, readers will meet this world's version of Vampirella and Green Hornet as they deal with a group of assassin's tracking down a scarlet clad mystery woman. Future issues promise to introduce The Phantom, Flash Gordon, Captain Victory and more! You don't want to miss this fun, adventure-packed series.
If you're looking for even more new in your new year, Dynamite has you covered. Enter a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to any comic reader. A dimension not of sound, but of sight and mind! It is a book which Dynamite calls Twilight Zone #1 by J. Michael Straczynski and artist Guiu Vilanova. In this issue, meet Trevor Richmond, a Wall Street investor unhappy with what life has given him. Wanting more, he has embezzled millions of dollars and threatens the entire economy. In an attempt to escape the consequences, Trevor turns to Expedited Services, Inc., a company specializing in making people disappear. But where will his new life take him? Hint: it's the Twilight Zone.
DC and Vertigo fans get a new series this week straight from the pages of Neil Gaiman's Sandman: Dead Boy Detectives #1 by Toby Litt and Mark Buckingham. Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland have two things in common: they love detective stories and they are both dead. Together, they take on any mystery out there, even the ones of their own deaths. Heading back to their old school St. Hilarions to piece together their unfortunate demises, the two dead boy detectives meet Crystal, a girl with a strange connection to the undead and handy with tech, and quickly bring her on as the newest detective. If you like fast-paced, ghostly mysteries, this is the book for you. Other stand out titles this week include Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S. #3, Damian, Son of Batman #3, Superman Unchained #5, and more.
Marvel introduces readers to the new Illuminati in New Avengers #13 by Jonathan Hickman and Simone Bianchi. In this Inhumanity tie-in issue, the new group must make some tough decisions while the events of Infinity are fresh in their minds. Then, artist Kevin Maguire lends his hand to Guardians of the Galaxy #10 by Brian Michael Bendis. Angela and Gamora are on the hunt, and you don't want to be in their sites. Speaking of hunting, Wolverine's hunt takes him to Madripoor in Savage Wolverine #13 by Phil Jimenez.
