Introducing the new DC New 52 this Wednesday, May 2

Last month, several of DC's titles came to an end with their eighth issues. But don't worry because the New 52 family has a few new members! Since the relaunch, readers have wondered what happened to some of their favorite, classic characters. Look no further than Earth 2 #1 by James Robinson and artist Nicola Scott, starring Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and more. In this extra-sized debut issue, anything is possible. Then in Worlds Finest #1, Paul Levitz and George Perez tell the tale of two heroes, Power Girl and Huntress, ripped from Earth 2 and stranded on our Earth. Find out what this means for these two heroes and those of our world. Hugo Award winning writer China Mieville and artist Mateus Santolouco bring readers Dial H #1. A person discovers the H Dial, an artifact that bestows great powers upon its user, and quickly begins to depend on it. However, it is soon revealed that this very artifact is a threat to the entire world! Last but not least, GI Combat #1, by J.T. Krul, Ariel Olivetti and Dan Panosian, presents the first chapter of "War That Time Forgot" (the military versus dinosaurs!) and "Unknown Soldier."

DC has a several other noteworthy books this week. Detective Comics #9 and Batwing #9 continue the awesome "Night of the Owls" storyline. Teen Titans Annual #1 kicks off "The Culling" as the Teen Titans face off against The Legion Lost! Fans of the hit WB show should look forward to Smallville Season 11 #1. This new ongoing series follows the adventures of Clark Kent after he puts on the costume.

Marvel's big event continues in Avengers vs X-Men #3. The X-Men and Avengers race to discover the next host of the Phoenix while Hope realizes she has to  take control of her future. And we knew it was coming, Captain America and Wolverine may not be on the same side after all. Then in Avengers Academy #29, the Utopia and Generation Hope teens find their way to the Academy but not as students. AvX may have the headlines, but Marvel has some other new books worth a look. In Exiled #1, Journey Into Mystery and New Mutants crossover as a forgotten hero, stronger than Thor, returns!

A couple of weeks ago, Dynamite Entertainment brought The Shadow back into the light, and this week, The Spider #1 spins a new tale for the returning pulp hero. Richard Wentworth transforms himself into The Spider as New York City fills with despair and violence. He will fight a one man war against crime, equipped only with his brains, technology, and trusty pistols.
