New Releases and Highlights for Wednesday, October 8

Welcome to a new week full of awesome comics. This Wednesday's books are really aiming to get everyone into the Halloween spirit with several new and spooky series. Marvel has a new event starting that is sure to shake things up. And DC has some new beginnings and beginnings of the end in store for readers. Without further adieu, let's take a look at a few highlights for this week.

Dr. No's is proud to partner with Archie Comic's to bring our customers a custom store cover by Francesco Francavilla for this week's new release Sabrina #1 by Roberto Aguirre Sacasa and Robert Hack. In this new ongoing horror series from the company that brought you Afterlife with Archie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch's origin is reimagined with a much darker twist. On her sixteenth birthday, Sabrina must choose between an unearthly destiny and her earthly boyfriend, Harvey. To make matters worse, Madame Satan, a old, family foe, has arrived in Greendale with nefarious plans. This is the perfect book to get you in the Halloween spirit, so don't miss the start of a great new series and the exclusive Dr. No's Comics & Games Superstore cover with art by Francavilla.

Marvel's next big event begins in Avengers and X-Men: Axis #1 by Rick Remender and Adam Kubert. In "Act I: The Red Supremacy," the Red Skull, using the powers of the murdered Charles Xavier, telepathically broadcasts pure hate across the globe. Meanwhile, Tony Stark uncovers a dark secret that will change his life and everyone's lives he's close to forever. Now, the Avengers and X-Men must put aside their differences and mistrusts to combine forces and stop the spread of the Red Onslaught. If they don't, the world is doomed.

While the world falls to hatred and destruction, a son seeks out the history of his father in Thanos: A God Up There Listening #1 by Rob Williams and Neil Edwards. After Infinity, Thane's true past was revealed: he is the son of Thanos. With this heavy burden, he sets out with Ebony Maw as his travel companion to discover his father's past and hopefully his own future.

Batgirl is completely reinvented this week in Batgirl #35 by the new creative team of Cameron Stewart, Brendan Fletcher and Babs Tarr. After Barbara loses all of her Batgirl belongings in a fire, she decides there is no better time than now for a new beginning. She sets her sites on the hip part of town, Burnside, to set about recreating Batgirl. Along the way, she uncovers new threats aiming to take advantage of the people under her protection. You don't want to miss this exciting, new direction for the classic Batgirl character. In Batman #35, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo kick off the game-changing storyline "Endgame." Will the Dark Knight of Gotham be the same after this? Will he even be alive?

DC is kicking off an all-new weekly series by New York Times best-selling author Daniel H. Wilson and artist Ardian Syaf: Earth 2: Worlds End #1. Witness the birth of a new world very similar to the New 52 Earth but very different at the same time. This is a world that lost it's heroes only to have new ones take up the fallen mantles. You know the names of these heroes, but who is under the masks is very different. A world where Superman became evil and Zod stood up to the once great protector of Earth. Each week, follow the adventures of this brave, new world, and remember, no one is safe.

Something wicked this way comes in the new Image series Wytches #1 by superstar creators Scott Snyder and Jock! For centuries, women and men have been persecuted and murdered all in the name of good — cleansing the world of witches. However, not one of the women and men were witches. But their deaths did protect the truth: witches exist. They are ancient, deadly and elusive. Don't miss this first, extra-sized issue with no ads! If you're in need of more seasonal fun, check out The October Faction #1 by Steve Niles and Damien Worm. Meet Frederick Allan, retired monster hunter, and his misfit family: a witch, a warlock, and a thrill-killer. Discover what makes this crazy family tick in this new series from IDW.

With all of the gloom-and-doom this week, perhaps a bit of comedic relief is in order. If that's the case, Punks #1 by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Kody Chamberlain will hit the spot. The misfit cast of Dog, Skull, Fist and Abe Lincoln return to comics for more fist-fighting, crotch-kicking action. Dr. No's will be carrying the two regular covers, and we'll also have the exclusive Phantom Variant cover only for stores in the Phantom Variant program!

Below is a complete list of everything we are getting this week!
