The Merc with a Mouth returns this week in Marvel NOW's Deadpool #1 by Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn, and Tony Moore. The dead are rising, but these aren't your run-of-the-mill zombies. These dead guys happen to be former United States presidents. So when the likes of Lincoln, Washington, Ford, and more come to town, the heroes don't want to be seen fighting them. Who do they call? The craziest guy they know, Wade Wilson! If that's not enough, NOW's Iron Man #1, by Kieron Gillen and Greg Land, pits Tony Stark against the techno virus Extremis. With Extremis on the market going to the highest bidder, Stark must build a new suit of armor if he hopes to contain it. Then, AvX Consequences #5 is the final issue of the miniseries wrapping up the fallout from Marvel's huge event.
Valiant continues to expand on its successful line of relaunched books with Shadowman #1 by Justin Jordan and Patrick Zircher. The forces of evil are growing as they plan to consume all of New Orleans, and only one man can stop them. Jack Boniface must accept his legacy and become Shadowman. Even with the power to stop the approaching evil, is it really worth it? If you haven't been reading any of the new Valiant titles, I highly recommend trying any of the new series because they have all been very enjoyable for new and returning readers.
Fans of novelist Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy will enjoy Vertigo's adaptation of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Mystery writer Denise Mina and artists Leonardo Manco and Andrea Mutti craftily bring Larsson's first novel to the comics world. Harriet Vanger disappeared over forty years ago, but the mystery surrounding the event still haunts her now aged uncle. Needing to know what happened to his niece, he hires journalist Mikael Blomkvist to pursue any leads possible. With the help of Lisbeth Salander, the pair go down a path of darkness that threatens both of their lives as they seek the truth.The books discussed above and those listed below are available this Wednesday, November 7 as soon as Dr. No's Comics and Games opens at 11am.
