Neil Gaiman and The Sandman return this Wednesday, October 30

Twenty-five years ago, Neil Gaiman introduced the world to The Sandman, and it has been beloved ever sense. Now, Gaiman returns to the series that made him who he is today. The Sandman: Overture #1 is the prequel story fans have been asking for, ranging from the birth of the galaxy to the the capture of Morpheus in the first issue of the original series. Art is provided by the amazing J.H. Williams; his widescreen portraits give life to the universe like never before. Fan's can also expect cameos from some of their favorite characters like Merv Pumpkinhead, The Corinthian, and the Sandman's siblings. Comic fans new and old won't want to miss Neil Gaiman and The Sandman's return to shelves this Wednesday.

Batman's son Damian returns this week, but not how you might think. In Damian: Son of Batman #1 by Andy Kubert, Damian's co-creator, readers get a glimpse of a future that may never actually come. Damian Wayne has adopted the cape and cowl of Batman, but what terrible events led to him doing this? Getting back to DCU proper, check out Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S. #1 by Sterling Gates, Phillip Tan, Neil Edwards and Javier Pina. With the Justice League dead and A.R.G.U.S.'s headquarters destroyed, Steve Trevor and his remaining agents have to protect suffering civilians from the Secret Society.  Wednesday also brings several new New 52 Annuals with it including: Aquman Annual #1, Green Lantern Annual #2, Action Comics Annual #1, Swamp Thing Annual #2, and more.

Marvel's big X-event wraps up this Wednesday with X-Men: Battle of the Atom #2 by Jason Aaron, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Kris Anka, Chris Bachalo, Stuart Immonen, and Esad Ribic. X-Men of the past, present, and future meet in the biggest battle in X-history. After this fight, their world will be changed forever, setting up the coming X-books in 2014, so don't miss it. Infinity #5, by Jonathan Hickman, Jerome Opena, and Dustin Weaver, continues Marvel's big return of Thanos event.  The war for Earth is underway as the heroes unite to take down Thanos; plus, Avengers Universe! Then, don't miss the very first adventure of Black Cat and the Superior Spider-Man in Superior Spider-Man #20, featuring new beginnings from the fallout of 'Necessary Evil.' And don't forget Superior Spider-Man Team-Up Special #1, wrapping up 'The Arms of The Octopus' storyline. Other notable titles this week include Punisher: Trial of Punisher #2 and Kick-Ass #4.

Red Circle Comics, an Archie Comics imprint, debuts its new series from Mark Waid, Dean Haspiel, and Allen Passalaqua: Fox #1! From the world of the New Crusdaers comes Fox, a pulp-inspired hero for a new age. When Paul Patton, Jr. became the high-flying Fox, he never expected he would be such a Freak Magnet.
