Free Comic Book Day is this weekend, May 4, 2013 at Dr. No's Comics and Games! We're proud to welcome several special guests to the store for this year's FCBD, including Mark Bagley, Lewis LaRosa, Joseph M. Linsner, Dean Motter, Joe Pruett, Brian Reber and some of your favorite Star Wars characters. Guests will be in from noon until 2:00 pm. The store is also hosting a Children's Costume Contest with prizes for fans 10 years old and under. Clear your schedule and come on by Dr. No's for free comics made specially for FCBD. However, before Saturday, we hope to see you on Wednesday for this week's selection of new books.
For those of you hungry for some Iron Man action before the premiere of Iron Man 3 this Friday, Marvel has you covered. First up, David Michelinie and Bob Layton join forces once again for Iron Man #258.1. Micheline and Layton return to reveal the untold tale of 'Armor Wars 2' as Tony Stark faces his biggest challenge yet. Those looking to experience one of Iron Man's earlier battles can pick up Iron Man: Coming of Melter #1, reprinting his first encounter with the Malevolent Melter from Iron Man #72. Of course, the regular Marvel NOW series also continues this week with Iron Man #9 by Kieron Gillen and Greg Land. Then, the bleak future of the Marvel Universe brought about by Ultron continues in Age of Ultron #7 by Brian Bendis and Brandon Peterson. In order to defeat Ultron, two of Marvel's heroes set out to make an all-new MU, but will it be for the better? Things are about to get interesting.
From Image Comics, J. Michael Straczynski--writer of Superman: Earth One, Midnight Nation and Rising Stars--teams up with the talented writer/artist Ben Templesmith to revive the Joe's Comics imprint for their new book Ten Grand #1. Joe Fitzgerald is a mob thug with no problem doing what needs to be done . . . until he met the love of his life Laura. Taking on one last job, Joe goes after a man who turns out to be deep into demonology and a greater match for Joe than planned. Seeking vengeance the man fatally wounds Joe and kills Laura, but not even dying is easy for Joe. An angelic being offers Joe a deal, if he works for them, they will make sure he doesn't go to hell and every time he is killed in the line of duty he gets five minutes with Laura. Then it starts all over again. Is a life of continuous death worth five minutes with the one he loves?
Vertigo's Girl With The Dragon Tattoo HC Vol. 2 by Denise Mina, Leonardo Manco and Andrea Mutti concludes the graphic novel adaptation of Stieg Larsson's hit novel. Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander join forces to uncover the truth of Harriet Vanger's disappearance. DC's final gatefold cover hits a little late, which is better than never, with this week's release of Aquaman #19 by Geoff Johns and Paul Pelletier. Witness the new king of Atlantis, but it might not be who you think it is. This issue also features one of DC's special Mad variants. Other titles of note this week include the recently refreshed Green Arrow #20 by Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino, Animal Man #20 by Lemire, Steve Pugh and John Paul Leon, Swamp Thing #20 by Charles Soule and Kano, and many others.
