DC Comic's Before Watchmen is the most talked about comic event of the year, and it is finally here! The first book that delves into the history of the characters in the original Watchmen is Before Watchmen: Minutemen #1 by Darwyn Cooke. One difference between Cooke's prequel and the others is that it will focus not on the main characters from the original story but on the heroes of the 1930s that were mentioned in passing. Hollis Mason, the original Nite Owl, takes readers back to the team of heroes known as The Minutemen in his autobiography Under The Hood where characters like Silhouette, Silk Spectre, Captain Metropolis, and others are front and center. These are the people who paved the way for the heroes in Alan Moore's original work. New and old readers alike should give this book a try.
