The all-out brawl between the X-Men and Avengers continues this week in several tie-in issues. First up, New Avengers #26 reveals the secret history of the Phoenix through the book of dead Iron Fists. Marvel promises this to be one of the most important chapters in the AvX story. Then Cyclops visits the Jean Grey School attempting to recrute Wolverine to fight against the Avengers in Wolverine and the X-Men #10. That's not all for the Jean Grey School as the Avengers' She-Hulk, Falcon, and Moon Knight move in to secure the campus, but Rogue and her team might have something to say about that.
After a long break, Marvel is brining back the Altered-Reality Monitoring and Operational Response agency (A.R.M.O.R.) in Marvel Zombies Destroy #1, by Frank Marraffino and Mirco Pierfederici. This time, the team is sent to rescue a reality where WWII was won by Nazis and their zombies! Everybody hates Nazi zombies. Join Howard the Duck, Dum Dum Dugan, and Ducky's Dozen as they take out the zombie trash.
Gotham's elite have been targeted by the Court of Owls in DC's Night of the Owls storyline, and it is up to the Batfamily to save the people on the Court's hitlist. In Batgirl #9, Barbara comes face to face with the Court's assassins, the Talons, as she attempts to save the life of her father, Commissioner Gordon. Then, the Batcave has been compromised in Batman #9, and Batman stands against the endless onslaught of Talons. With Batman fighting for his and Pennyworth's life, Robin is left alone to battle the Talon alone in Batman and Robin #9. If you are just getting into the Night of the Owls, a great way to catch up would be the Batman HC: Night of the Owls, which collects the first six-issue story that started it all.
Spinning from last year's wonderful graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Oeming, Takio #1 is an all-ages superhero adventure starring two sisters, Taki and Olivia, with super powers. As the only two people with powers, they have no choice but to become the superheroes the world needs. But is the world ready for them? Are they ready for the world? This is a great read that can be enjoyed by the young and young-at-heart.
