Some writers get the Surfer; some don’t, as his short-lived series from a few years ago demonstrated. The good news, though, is that JMS really gets the Surfer, delivering the character’s best story in decades. Ribic’s art carries the story perfectly, capturing both the cosmic majesty and the introspective appeal of Marvel’s most humanly alien character. By the end of the second issue, you'll feel attached to this character... and that makes the storyline even more poignant.
