Well, you didn't need to wait long for the follow up because Wednesday marks the release of Secret Wars #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic. The end of the Marvel Universe as you know it has arrived. In fact, the end of the Ultimate Marvel Universe is also here. As the two come together one last time with cataclysmic results, a new status quo will be revealed. You really won't want to miss this important series that is set to direct the future of Marvel from here on out.

If you're going to come by the store Wednesday and pick up new books (and who isn't?) then you might want visit between 6:30pm and 7:30pm because comics writer Christopher Golden will be in store signing Baltimore: Cult of the Red King #1, which is coming out that very day! DC's big universe bending story line also continues this week in Convergence #5 by Jeff King, Andy Kubert, and Sandra Hope. The final fate of the battling cities stolen by Telos will be revealed in this issue! And Brainiac returns to confront Telos after leaving him in charge during his absence. Will he be happy with what's happened? I'm guessing not. Meanwhile, the homeless heroes of Earth 2 are stuck in the middle of it all! One of DC's biggest original graphic novels returns this week with the release of Batman: Earth One Volume 2 by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. After the Batman's initial outing in the first volume, he's got problems on his hands as a new villain plunges Gotham into chaos: The Riddler! Along the way, Batman must deal with the conflicting opinions on crime control between Detective Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth (Bruce Wayne's head of security). And if that didn't keep the Dark Knight's dance card full, Harvey Dent and the Killer Croc sure will.
