Hulk out over these new comics on Wednesday, April 16

This week's releases from Marvel are about new beginnings and endings. First up, Hulk #1 by Mark Waid and Mark Bagley (who will be signing at Dr. No's on Free Comic Book Day, May 3) picks up after the mind-blowing conclusion of last month's Indestructible Hulk. Someone shot Bruce Banner, leaving him knocking on death's door. If he survives, he may never be the same man he was. Needless to say, this has Hulk a little peeved, and the big green monster will stop at nothing to track down the shooter. Then, Superior Spider-Man #31 by Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli marks the end of the series as Doc Ock leaves the driver's seat and Peter Parker takes back control of his mind and his city. But what will become of Otto now that he has let go? And will Parker be able to stop the terror of Goblin Nation before it's too late? Meanwhile, in Marvel's Ultimate Universe, a new team is on the scene in Ultimate FF #1 by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Mario Guevara. Meet the Future Foundation: Sue Storm, Tony Stark, Machine Man and Sam Wilson. Together, they stand between us and Doom.

DC's new beginning this week is Sinestro #1 by Cullen Bunn and Dale Eaglesham. Sinestro has lost everything: the Yellow Lantern Corps is no longer under his control, he has no home, he has no family, and he has no friends. But he will never be without fear! Lyssa Drak, former ally and foe, plans to remind him of just that. Will Sinestro be able to take back his Corps or are there other plans for him beyond his control? Then, Batman #30 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo kicks off the next leg of the Zero Year storyline: "Savage City." In Batman Eternal #2, James Gordan has been arrested and a well-known Bat-villian makes his debuts in the New 52 continuity. And you won't want to miss Harley Quinn #5 by Amanda Conner and Chad Hardin because Harley shows turnabout is fair play when it comes to trying to kill her.

Solar Man of the Atom #1 by Frank J. Barbiere and Joe Bennett, Dynamic Forces next entry in their Gold Key Universe, hits shelves this week. Dr. Phil Seleski was given powers after being hit with experimental radiation. Now, Seleski seeks to figure out the secrets of the universe while becoming a hero along the way, whether he wants to or not. Will he be able to handle almost unlimited powers? Or will everyone else pay the price?

Batman goes weekly this Wednesday, April 9

This Wednesday, DC Comics kicks off Batman Eternal #1 by Scott Snyder, John Layman, Tim Seeley, Ray Fawkes, James Tynion IV and Jason Fabok---a Bat-story so large it will take a new issue every week to tell the epic to its completion. In the first issue, Batman's ally on the GCPD, Commissioner James Gordon, ends up on the wrong side of the law. Eternal will include a wide variety of Batman villains and heroes, some of which will be introduced for the first time to the DC New 52. Then, in Superman/Wonder Woman #7 by Charles Soule and Paulo Siqueira, Doomsday is free and the Earth will feel his wrath; plus, find out how Wonder Woman and Superman make it out of a nuclear blast alive.

Marvel aims to knock readers out with the release of Iron Fist: Living Weapon #1 by writer/artist/director Kaare Andrews. Danny Rand, the Iron Fist, had a chance at immortality, but he gave it all up to seek revenge against those behind the death of his parents. However, in this new series, Rand discovers revenge can go both ways as his blood-soaked past catches up with him. Then, a beloved X-Man attempts to understand the new status quo of the Marvel U in Nightcrawler #1 by Chris Claremont and Todd Nauck. Kurt Wagner returned from the dead, and the world is not what he remembers: Professor X is no more and the X-Men have turned on each other with Cyclops leading one faction and Wolverine the other.  In the new series, Nightcrawler and Wolverine hit the road to defend mutant kind through ample use of swashbuckling and BAMFing. Don't miss out on the fun.

Doomsday returns this Wednesday, April 2

The events of DC's Forever Evil have flipped the status quo for the Man of Steel. In Action Comics #30 by Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder, the new storyline "Doomed" kicks off. Lex Luthor has managed to become a hero to the world, but Superman isn't in great standing. If that wasn't bad enough, Doomsday, long dormant in the Phantom Zone, has managed to crossover and is aiming to take Superman down. The King of Atlantis gets his own book this week in Aquaman and the Others #1 by Dan Jurgens, Lan Medina and Edgar Tadeo. Aquaman and his team have been targeted by a mysterious foe who's after the Atlantean artifacts they're protecting. This issue is also a prelude to DC's upcoming Futures End series, so don't miss it. And Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato are taking over creative duties on Detective Comics #30 as Batman tracks down the origin of a deadly new narcotic that has hit Gotham's streets.

Witness the birth of Marvel's newest super heroes in Inhuman #1 by Charles Soule and Joe Madureira. Terrigen mist has spread across the globe and transformed those with the dormant Inhuman bloodline into super powered beings. But not everyone is happy there's a sudden influx of inexperienced super beings. Check out this book to learn more about the secret history of the Marvel Universe. Cullen Bunn returns this week with everyone's favorite crazy man in Deadpool Vs Carnage #1. In this new mini-series, two red-suited crazies go head to head in what's sure to be a bloody battle to revival any other Marvel event. The latest What If series kicks off with What If: Age of Ultron #1 by Joe Keating and Raffaele Ienco. In the original series, Wolverine killed Hank Pym to stop Ultron, but what if Wolverine killed another founding member of the Avengers instead? Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Prelude #1 by Dan Abnett and Wellington Alves prepares readers for Marvel's next big film by revealing the tragic story of Nebula.
