Last week, Marvel introduce readers to Battleword. This planet of conflict is what happened when the regular Marvel Universe collided with the Ultimate Marvel Universe. Of course, with a name like that, you'd expect a lot of fighting. So much so that Marvel needed Secret Wars: Battleworld #1 by Joshua Williamson, Ed Brisson, Mike Henderson and Scott Hepburn. This is the book you want if you're craving all the action that couldn't fit in the pages of Secret Wars. This issue features the hunt for a Dr. Strange-possessed Punisher and the coalition of M.O.D.O.K.s! But that's not the only Secret Wars inspired book this week.
In A-Force #1 by C. Willow Wilson, Marguerite Bennett and Jorge Molina, the mighty women of Marvel join forces to protect a secluded island nation on Battleworld. These amazing heroes will stop at nothing to protect what remains of their world. Then there's Spider-Verse #1 by Mike Costa and Andre Arujo. The heroes of the Spider-Verse event are brought back together on Battleworld. They just can't catch a break. But wait, there's more! Planet Hulk #1 by Sam Humphries, Greg Pak, Marc Lamin and Takeshi Miyagawa tells the story of a battle-hardened gladiator by the name of Steve Rogers in a forbidden zone full of Hulks! Smash! Then, if you can loosen your kung-fu grip on those other books, you'll want to check out Master of Kung Fu #1 by Haden Blackman and Dalibor Talajic. Shang-Chi is a drunken, drop out, failure in the world of K'UN LUN, but that doesn't mean he can't hold his own in a world populated by martial arts masters.
But what about the Ultimate Universe you ask? Well, those characters will show up in some of the previously mentioned tie-in books, but you can also witness the end of their world in this week's Ultimate End #1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley. The power house creative that brought you the breakthrough Ultimate book is back to bring the house down. Miles Morales and the other Ultimate heroes face the end of their world. Sacrifices will be made. Heroes will be lost. But will it all count for anything? The end of the Ultimate U starts here.
The penultimate issue of DC's big Convergence event arrives this week! In Convergence #7 by Jeff King, Scott Lobdell and Aaron Lopresti, the unified forces of the heroes of Earth 2, Kingdom Come, The Titans, and (the not so heroic) Parallax stand off against Deimos. Even with a team up like that, they still might not stand a chance. Luckily for them, the heroes of the New 52 will join the fight as well! Other Convergence titles this week include: Convergence: Adventures of Superman #2, Convergence: Batman & The Outsiders #2, Convergence: Flash #2, Convergence: Green Lantern Corps #2, Convergence: Hawkman #2, Convergence: Justice League of America #2, Convergence: New Teen Titans #2, Convergence: Superboy & The Legion #2, Convergence: Swamp Thing #2, and Convergence: Wonder Woman #2!
