Marvel Comic's big 10-issue event Age of Ultron--from the Eisner award-winning Brian Michael Bendis and fan-favorite artist Bryan Hitch--starts this week! To celebrate this big event, Marvel is producing the first issue with a beautiful foil cover, and for those variant collectors, look for covers from artists like Scottie Young and Mike Deodato, a special Ultron cover, and more. This new miniseries throws your favorite heroes like Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, and more into a post-apocalyptic future where Ultron's dream of wiping out all organic life on Earth is mostly realized. Literally overnight, the world changes and heroes find themselves in a world that has been devastated by the Avenger's long time nemesis, and their only option is to survive. Each issue will focus on individual heroes and where they are now, such as Hawkeye and Spider-Man in New York City, Black Panther and Red Hulk in Chicago, and other pairings and locations. Bendis has gone back to to crime fiction origins to delve into each character's emotional and physical state during the series, and Hitch leverages his skills to depict large scale, panoramic scenes of devastation to pull readers into this horrifying new world. Bendis promises that the events of this series will fold into the main Marvel U, so readers are in for a real treat. Other titles to watch for this week include Powers FBI #2, A Plus X #5, All New X-Men #8, Avengers #7, Superior Spider-Man #5, and more.
From DC, don't miss the first Bat-title after last week's Batman Incorporated #8 under the "Requiem" banner, Detective Comics #18 by John Layman and Jason Fabok. Bruce Wayne is devastated, mourning the loss of his son Damien, and to make matters worse, Batman is forced to release the Oswald Cobblepot from custody the same day Zsasz escapes Arkham. Can things get much worse for the Dark Knight? A new series debuts this week: Ame Comi Girls #1, an ongoing monthly book by Justin Gray and Eduardo Francisco. Following up the recent miniseries of the same name, this new adventure stars Wonder Woman, Power Girl, Supergirl, Batgirl, Robin, Steel, and The Flash as they team up to take down Brainiac! Geoff Johns' Green Lantern #18 continues the "Wrath of the First Lantern" story and reveals the fate of Hal Jordan and Sinestro. Another Before Watchmen series wraps up this Wednesday with the release of Rorschach #4 by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo. And don't miss the "Rotworld" epilogue in Animal Man #18 by Jeff Lemire and Steve Pugh and Swamp Thing #18 by Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette. Image has two new series this week for your consideration. Eisner-award winning creative team Jim McCann and Janet lee (The Return of the Dapper Men) reunite for Lost Vegas #1. Down on his luck gambler Roland has gotten in over his head and ended up a slave of the fabulous Lost Vegas, a roaming space-station turned opulent casino that caters to high-stakes gamblers from around the universe. However, Roland has one more game left in him, and to the winner goes freedom. Joe Casey and artist Piotr Kowalski's new comic SEX #1 focuses on Simon Cooke, former protector of Saturn City. Retiring from his previous life, Simon has returned to head the company that he left behind, but has he really changed and will his past life catch up with him quicker than expected?
