Wonderful Wednesdays!
Several of you have asked us how the holidays are going to impact Wednesday new comic book day, and the answer is--not at all! We'll get in books on Wednesday, December 23rd, just like always. Then a week later, on December 30th, we'll have two must-read books (Blackest Night #6 and Origins of Siege) along with a few other surprises. Then, on Wednesday January 6th, the first books of 2010 arrive right on schedule. Diamond Distributors and FedEx are working overtime to make sure we have those books ready for you every Wednesday, so don't change you plans for the holidays!

While it's a "skip week," there are still two must-have books slated for release on Wednesday, December 30th: Blackest Night #6 and Origins of Siege. That's right--you can find out what happens next in the biggest crossover story of the year, and you can catch up on the background info leading into Marvel's big 2010 crossover story. So come on by on Wednesday, December 30th to pick up these must-read books... and while you're there, betcha we can help you find a few other goodies you've overlooked!

Stardust Overdrive Sneak Peek Slated for 10/31
YuGiOh fans, take note: the sneak peek event for the next YuGiOh booster set, Stardust Overdrive, is slated for 1pm on Saturday, October 31st. The price for the sneak peek is $20; that gets you five packs of the next booster release two weeks before they go on sale to the rest of the world--and there are bonus items as well! We start signing people up at noon, for those of you already planning your schedule.
The last YuGiOh sneak peek we hosted drew more than 60 people, and we're hoping for even more this time. Konami has allowed us to order enough card packs to handle up to 80 people--but after that, we have to start turning folks away. If you want to be sure you don't miss out, come on by and preregister--that way you're guaranteed that you'll have a slot when you show up on October 31st!

Blackest Night Tie-Ins Make for a Bright Week
Yep, there are two Blackest Night books this week--Blackest Night: Batman #3 (and what a great ending to this miniseries!) and Green Lantern Corps #41, both must-reads for those who want the full Blackest Night picture. Marvel gives us Web of Spider-Man #1 (spotlighting Spidey's supporting cast, along with new tales of the near-future Spider-Girl) and X-Men Vs. Agents of Atlas #1 (a great way to find out why so many are raving about Agents of Atlas).
The hottest upscale items of the week are Absolute Death, reprinting every Neil Gaiman Death-related piece, and the Batman Family Multi-Part Statue #1, featuring Catwoman and Robin, along with 1 segment of the Batman statue. Zendikar Release Event coming up Saturday, 10/3!
As Magic: The Gathering fans know, Zendikar officially goes on sale October 3rd--and to celebrate the release of the hottest Magic set in years, we're holding an official release event on Saturday, October 3rd. Come on by and join in the fun.
And just in case you haven't heard what makes Zendikar so phenomenally hot: WotC has inserted some of the rarest original MtG cards in these packs, including Moxes, Black Lotus, and more. These aren't reprints--they're original, ultra-valuable, ultra-desirable collectible cards, put into the packs at random. That means that you might get a card worth hundreds or thousands of dollars. These are only certain to be included in the first wave--and all the Zendikar boxes we have right now are first wave boxes, so get 'em while the getting's good!
Spend Some Time With Superman's Pal
Silver Age DC fans will want to take a look at the impressive selection of very good to fine condition Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen that we recently picked up. Lots of fun Silver Age reading here! (And of course, we still have some primo Superman, Action, and Superboy left from our last large Silver Age purchase, so check them out at the same time!)
Get Savage!
Conan fans, take note--we've just purchased a huge collection of Savage Sword of Conan, and now have about 95% of the first 200 issues in stock in very fine or better! If you've been looking to fill in holes, this is your chance--we rarely see these books in this condition! The last time we got a collection of Savage Sword, 30% of 'em sold in the first two weeks, so don't dawdle!

Incoming for Wednesday, September 16th
It's a solid week for comics fans, highlighted by Blackest Night #3. There's a great reason why this is the biggest event of 2009: writer Geoff Johns is delivering one of the most high-energy, suspenseful stories in comics history, and it's written so that newcomers can enjoy the book just as much as DC comics veterans!
As always, all new releases will be on the wall ready to sell when we open the door on Wednesday, so come on by!

And for Duck fans, we're getting in the first syroco-style Walt Disney sculpture, featuring the miser-with-a-heart-of-gold Uncle Scrooge.
Don't forget that books will go on sale on Thursday, September 10th this week due to the Labor Day holiday delay. We'll have everything on the shelves and ready for purchase when we open the doors at 11am!
