FCBD Is Almost Here!

     

Be sure to mark you calendars for this Saturday, May 3rd, at Dr. No's. We will be participating in Free Comic Book Day with not only free comics, but with special guests to help us celebrate what we all love, COMICS!

     Dr No's is welcoming the following guests to Free Comic Book Day...
  • Mark Bagley - The all-star artist of Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, Fantastic Four, Ultimate Spider-Man, Justice League, Trinity, and many other books. Mark's relaunch of The Hulk, produced with writer Mark Waid is already on the shelf so you can get him to sign your copy on that day! (By the way, did you know that Mark  holds the record for illustrating more Spider-Man comic books than any other artist? He and Brian Bendis also hold the record for the longest uninterrupted creative run on any superhero series with their work on Ultimate Spider-Man!) 
  • Shane Berryhill - The author of the Chance Fortune novels and the Jack Frost Mystery The Long Silent Night is launching his first creator-owned comic book series, Sherwood Texas, at Free Comic Book Day 2014. This will mark Shane's first appearance at Dr. No's, so be sure to come by and say hello!
  • Joseph Michael Linsner - 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the first appearance of Dawn--and you can congratulate Dawn's creator Joseph Michael Linsner in person on Saturday, May 3rd, from noon to 2pm at Dr. No's Comics & Games Superstore!  In addition to Dawn, Linsner's body of work includes Marvel Comics' Wolverine-Black Cat three issue mini series Claws, as well as countless covers for Image, Dark Horse, Dynamite, Boom, and many more!
  • Anya Martin - Anya is an acclaimed horror and dark fantasy author and journalist whose Womanthlogy: Heroic (IDW) dark comics fable with up-and-coming Spanish artist Mado Peña has received praise in multiple reviews. Anya has also worked for Marvel Age, Comics Buyer's Guide, and more.
  • Dean Motter - Writer, artist, and creator of Mister X, Dean has been in the business for over 20 years. writer and artist for the Graphic novel The Prisoner based on the 60's TV series, he has worked on many books over the years, including Terminal CityBatman: Gotham KnightsWolverineStar Wars TalesBatman: Nine LivesElectropolis, and many more!
  • Joe Pruett - Comics writer, editor, and publisher, 2014 marks Joe's 25th anniversary as a comics professional; he broke into the field working with Bob Burden on Flaming Carrot in 1989. Joe is well known as the writer/co-creator of Dusty Star and Kilroy Is Here; he is also the editor of the acclaimed anthology series Negative Burn, and his imprint Desperado Press has published numerous anthologies, comics, and art books, including The Art of Brian Bolland, the Art of Joe Jusko, The Art of Jeffrey Jones, and The Art of George Pérez. Come by on FCBD to get an autograph and speak to Mr. Pruett about his next project, a comic book adaptation of Battlefield Earth, slated for release in late 2014 or early 2015.
  • Wayne Vansant - acclaimed illustrator of The 'NamDays of DarknessThe Hammer & the AnvilNormandyBombing Nazi Germany, and other graphic novels. Mr. Vansant's newest graphic novel, The Red Baron (a look at Baron von Richthofen and the air war in WWI), is slated for release just a couple of weeks after FCBD.  Come by to meet comics modern 
  • 501st Legion, The Dark Empire, Mandalorian Mercs Star Wars Costume Groups - The Star Wars Costume community is an enthusiastic group of volunteers who have some of the best costumes in fandom. These fine folk are coming to Dr. No's in full Star Wars costumes to pose for pictures with the Free Comic Book Day attendees. If you are a fan of Star Wars or just a fan of great costumes, this group is a must see!
  • Steampunk Boba Fett - John Strangeway has turned what could have been a one time costume appearance into a household name within the cosplay community. If anyone asks if you saw "Steampunk Boba Fett" they are almost certainly talking about John.
