All-new Marvel NOW! series hit shelves this Wednesday, January 8

Are you ready for Marvel's newest series? After All-New Marvel NOW! Point One, you will be. This special issue features new lead-in stories to Loki: Agent of Asgard, Silver Surfer, Black Widow, All-New Invaders, Avengers World, and more! When your done reading that issue, you can jump right in to a couple of the new series introduced. Avengers World #1 by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Spencer and Stefano Caselli brings the Avengers back to earth after their absence while fighting among the stars. In their absence, new threats arose that will test the heroes like never before, and one event will change the Marvel Universe forever. Then, Black Widow #1 by Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto shows readers what the titular character does on her off times from the Avengers; let's just say they wouldn't approve, but these are the only ways she knows to atone for her time as a KGB assassin. Peter David brings the team he made popular back this week in All New X-Factor #1 with the help of artist Carmine Di Giandomenico, but this isn't the detective team you once knew. Serval Industries, an internet/tech powerhouse, has acquired the name of X-Factor and is putting together its own team led by Polaris. The rest of her team is rounded out by Quicksilver, Gambit, Cypher, Warlock, and Danger. And if you're a fan of Marvel UK's heroes, Revolutionary War Alpha #1 by Andy Lanning and Richard Elson brings them together for the first time in 20 years to stop the world from being destroyed. A few other notable books this week include: Avengers AI #8.NOW, Inhumanity Awakening #2, Cataclysm Ultimate Spider-Man #3, and Cataclysm Ultimates Last Stand #3.

DC brings readers a modern day re-telling of the Batman's origin in Detective Comics #27 by Brad Meltzer and Bryan Hitch, but that's not the only story in the mega-sized issue! The new main Bat-book storyline "Gothtopia" is kicked off by John Layman and Jason Fabok and also marks the beginning of the end for their run on the book. In this three-part story, readers are introduced to a very different Gotham: one devoid of crime. Bruce Wayne is still Batman, but his allies have turned against him. Is this real, a dream or worse? But even that's not all! A who's who of all-star Batman creators lend their talent to this issue containing new stories by Gregg Hurwitz and Neal Addams, Peter J. Tomasi and Ian Bertram, Francesco Francavilla, Mike W. Barr and Guillem March, and Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy. Batwing #27 is a "Gothtopia" tie-in and features Luke Fox as Gotham City's protector. What?!? Then, Forever Evil: Arkham War #4 puts a new dynamic duo on the streets of Gotham: Bane and Talon!

Zombies continue their assault on Riverdale in Afterlife With Archie #3 by Roberto Aguirre Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla. Archie and his surviving friends have taken refuge in Lodge Mansion, but he can't resist sneaking away, risking his life and those depending on him at the lodge, to find his missing parents. Will those he leaves behind survive against the enemy within the lodge? Also, don't miss our exclusive Phantom Variant cover featuring fantastic, new art by Francavilla.
